Good e-bike tours fill up weeks ahead and the great ones go first. Below: the 15 to book early, what each includes and where they differ.
Spend 210 minutes cycling Franschhoek’s vineyards by easy-to-ride e-bike, stopping at two wineries such as Grande Provence, Leeu Estate, or Glenwood. Guides including Prince, Ash, and Josh share local stories and keep the pace friendly. Wine tastings cost extra, and groups are limited to eight.

Ride an assisted e-bike from Lanzerac into the Jonkershoek Valley with an English-speaking guide and a maximum of eight people. You’ll follow cycle paths past farms and rivers, stop at two wine farms for 30 to 45 minutes each, and have time for tastings and shopping. Renaldo is one guide praised for his friendly, reassuring help.

Ride an excellent electric bike through Cape Town with guide William or Max, covering Green Point, the V&A Waterfront, Bo-Kaap, Signal Hill, Camps Bay, Clifton, and Sea Point. The 3.5-hour route mixes city streets, ocean views, hills, beaches, and local history. Comfortable cycling clothes, sunscreen, and basic bike confidence are essential.

There were numerous hills for excellent views and these bikes absolutely surged and made extremely light work of the mileage. You’ll ride a modern eBike for 210 minutes with a guide speaking English or German. Starting at Cycling Friends Shop, the route links Green Point, the V&A Waterfront, Bo-Kaap, Signal Hill, Camps Bay, Clifton, and Sea Point. William is one guide leading this tour, and the group is limited to 10 people.

You’ll ride an electric bike through the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, with stops at Cape Point, the lighthouse, Chapman's Peak, and optional Boulders Beach. Guide Byron is praised for careful safety support, local insight, and adapting the pace to your cycling ability. Hotel pickup, equipment, water, WiFi, and reserve entry are included.

We have had the most amazing day with him as our guide - he is extremely professional, friendly, engaging and his knowledge of South Africa and its history, culture, wildlife and biodiversity is just astounding. Ride an electric bike with a registered English or French-speaking guide through Cape Town’s waterfront, Bo-Kaap, Sea Point, Camps Bay, and Table Mountain area. Guides such as Byron and Danny provide local context and photo stops. The route is easy for most riders, but traffic and changing road conditions require attention.

You’ll spend about three and a half hours riding an e-bike through Franschhoek’s vineyards and working farms with guide Prince and a group of no more than eight. The route avoids main roads and includes two or three wine estates, where tastings are available at your own cost. Bikes, helmets, scenic photo stops, and a morning or afternoon departure are included.

You’ll ride about 45 km from Stellenbosch to Franschhoek on an e-bike, using jeep tracks, mountain-bike trails, and 15 km of paved roads. Expect around four hours of riding, 680 meters of climbing, a wine tasting and light lunch at a Franschhoek estate, then a vehicle ride back. Intermediate off-road skills are required.
“Nice bike tour on easy trails (even single tracks are on beginners level). Some parts on traffic roads but well secured by the broom wagon. Crossing a few hidden and beautiful wineries using the backdoors. The guide provided interesting information about the wine industry. The long ride to Franschhoek leads through a remote and picturesque landscape. All in all, a nice experience and absolutely recommended.”
Spend 210 minutes riding an assisted e-bike through Banhoek Valley with an English-speaking guide. Visit two wine farms, often including Tokara, Rainbow’s End, Thelema, or Zorgvliet. Guides such as Ash, Luva, Charles, G, Prince, and Jason are known for friendly storytelling about Stellenbosch, wine, and local life.

Ride 15 to 20 kilometers through Franschhoek with an English-speaking guide such as Prince or Mandla. You’ll use a mountain e-bike, visit Wildeberg Wines and Stony Brook Vineyards, learn about the Huguenot past, and sample wines with sweeping vineyard views. The tour lasts 4.5 hours and suits adults who can handle a moderate ride.
“My shared tour became a private tour. I was really impressed by the beauty of nature around Franschhoek and even more enjoyed the friendliness and stories of my guide. We visited Stony Brooks, a more boutique estate off the beaten tracks with seriously good wines. Try the Ghost Gum, which has been awarded 5*’s. After this we visited Bri Estate, one of the oldest of the Hugenot’s estates, very beautiful view over the vineyards, paired with chocolate & Wine. I had a truly wonderful tour and woul recommend it to everyone!”
Leave Cape Town by hotel pickup for a guided e-bike ride through the Winelands. You’ll cross vineyard tracks, climb hills with motor assistance, stop at scenic viewpoints, and finish with wine tasting at a local estate. Ride an e-bike into Jonkershoek Nature Reserve near Stellenbosch, then hike to a waterfall beside the Eerste River. Your small group, capped at seven, gets a safety briefing, guide, snack, water, and reserve entry. Guides such as Prince, Louise, Louisa, and Ronaldo lead in English or Afrikaans. Bring swimwear for a cold-water dip.

Spend four hours cycling Franschhoek’s wine valley on a mountain e-bike with an English-speaking guide. You’ll visit two wine estates, see traditional and modern cellars, and enjoy premium tastings amid mountain and vineyard views. Guides such as Tim and Max have led recent tours. A minimum age of 12 and height of 140 cm apply.

Ride 10 to 12 kilometers through Stellenbosch’s Banghoek Valley on a mountain e-bike, stopping at two wine estates for tastings. The 4.5-hour tour starts and ends at Banhoek Lodge and suits adults who want scenery, gentle adventure, and vineyard visits.

Rent a serviced e-bike at 9 Fabriek St and set your own route through Franschhoek. Ride toward the Berg River Dam, visit wine farms, stop for food, or follow mapped trails. Inga has led tailored rides, while Gemma and Tyse welcome riders at the rental shop. Tastings, meals, dam entry, and guides cost extra.

Was a fabulous guided tour led by Inga who tailored the tour for us and had lots of experience as a tour guide. 2 hours plus. We cycled through vineyards, traversed the side of mountain to viewpoint overlooking dam etc. Quality e-bikes very easy to use. Water provided by Inga.
